WHAT ARE THE MAZDA MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES?

Mazda i-ACTIV

Whether you’re bringing home the new Mazda you’ve always wanted or you currently drive one of our used cars, you know that caring for your vehicle over time is of the utmost importance! Of course, the best way to stay on top of routine maintenance is to know your Mazda maintenance schedule! If you’re anywhere near Vista or Carlsbad, that’s where our team comes in.

IS THERE A GENERAL MAZDA MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE?

No two vehicles are exactly alike, even if they’re made by the same manufacturer! Actual requirements will vary from model to model.  However, if you’re just looking for an idea of what kind of services you’ll need to secure as you drive around San Marcos, you can reference the Mazda3 maintenance schedule, the Mazda6 maintenance schedule, and the Mazda CX-5 maintenance schedule below.

MAZDA3 MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE

  • Inspect your disc brakes once per year
  • Inspect fuel lines/hoses, brake lines, connections, steering operation, front and rear suspension, and driveshaft dust boost once every two years.
  • Every two years, you should also tighten bolts and nuts in the chassis and body.
  • Inspect the drive belts once every three years.
  • Inspect the hoses and tubes for your emissions and exhaust systems every four years. Also, inspect your heat shields.
  • Your oil change frequency will vary depending on whether you select a fixed or flexible setting. With a fixed setting, you’ll change the oil once every six months, replace the engine air filter at 30 months, and replace the cabin air filter once over 24 months.
  • With the flexible setting, you’ll see a wrench indicator on your dashboard when it’s time to schedule basic service.
  • The duration of your coolant will vary depending on the type selected for your vehicle. Replacement should occur once every 120,000 miles / 10 years, or once every 60,000 miles / five years.
  • Tire rotation should occur every 5,000 miles or so.
  • You’ll need to replace your spark plugs once every 75,000 miles.

MAZDA6 MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE

  • For Yearly, Bi-Yearly, and Tri-Yearly maintenance needs, the Mazda6 maintenance schedule is identical to Mazda3 maintenance schedule.
  • Every four years, inspect the hoses, tubes, and emission systems.
  • Inspect the exhaust system and heat shields every five years.
  • Replace the cabin air filter and engine air filter every three years.
  • Follow either the fixed or flexible guidelines for oil changes and coolant replacement laid out above.
  • Rotate your tires once every 7,500 miles.

MAZDA CX-5 MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE

  • The Mazda CX-5 maintenance schedule is virtually identical to the Mazda6 service schedule.
  • However, your spark plugs will need to be replaced more often. With the SKYACTIV®-G 2.5T, replace them every 40,000 miles. With every other engine, replace them every 75,000 miles.

GET FAMILIAR WITH YOUR OWNER’S MANUAL

Ultimately, it’s important to keep in mind that the recommended maintenance schedule for each vehicle will probably change, at least in small ways, from year to year! Although the schedules laid out above will continue to function as good general guidelines, the best way to make sure you’re covering all your bases is to read and study your owner’s manual. If you happen to lose track of your manual, or you just want a quick reference that you can check online, we’ve got you covered! Just select your year and your model in our Mazda maintenance menu, and remember that driving conditions and driving habits may alter the guidelines of your flexible service management system.
