HOW TO ROTATE TIRES AT HOME

Tire Rotation

Whether you have questions about how to rotate tires at home or would like to take your vehicle to a service center in Escondido, there’s no question that rotating your tires is an essential part in your vehicle’s routine maintenance. By doing so regularly, you’ll be able to extend the life of your tires and have better traction on the road.

HOW TO DO A TIRE ROTATION: STEP-BY-STEP

As you drive around San Marcos and Vista, the wear and tear on your tires will vary from wheel to wheel. When your vehicle turns, the outer tread on the front tires deteriorates more quickly. So, if you don’t rotate your tires, all four will erode at different rates causing you to replace them sooner than necessary. When considering how to do a tire rotation, take the following steps:

  1. As an extra safety measure, engage the parking brake.
  2. On all four wheels, loosen the lug nuts without fully removing them. Unscrewing the nuts will be easier when the tire itself is elevated.
  3. Using a jack, lift up one wheel. Then place the jack stand under the tire. Move around the vehicle and do the same for all your tires.
  4. Remove each tire. This is a great time to ensure each one has the ideal tire pressure.
  5. Rotate the tires based on the wear of each. Place the tire onto the appropriate wheel mount and tighten the lug nuts by hand.
  6. Lower your vehicle from the jack stands.
  7. Further tighten the wheels with a lug wrench. Ideally, you would tighten them diagonally instead of clock or counterclockwise. Do your best to make sure the nuts are tightened evenly.

HOW OFTEN TO ROTATE TIRES
