Have you ever wondered, “how much can a Mazda CX-9 tow?” Well, the 2019 Mazda CX-9 is capable of towing up to 3,500 pounds with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.* With that kind of power, you can easily tow a small boat or trailer for your San Marcos excursions. Learn more about the CX-9’s high-torque engine and standout performance specs at Mazda of Escondido!

Mazda CX-9 Engine

The new Mazda CX-9 boasts a 4-cylinder engine that provides peak performance while also preserving fuel economy. The 2.5L 4-cylinder is capable of producing 250 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, which is no small feat for a family-friendly SUV, and beats out the Honda Pilot when it comes to performance.

Additionally, its 6-speed automatic transmission seamlessly transfers power to the wheels for smooth handling. It also features a Sport Mode and a manual-shift function for even more enhanced performance. You can opt for all-wheel drive on the Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring trims, but it comes standard on the Signature edition of the CX-9. Front-wheel drive is standard on the other trims. And thanks to the many exciting CX-9 color options, you’ll turn heads on every Vista ride.

Mazda CX-9 Towing Features

Whether you need to tow a trailer or camper for your Carlsbad adventure, you can rely on the following CX-9 performance features:

  • The standard SKYACTIV®-VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring Control system adjusts the weight of your vehicle and the amount of torque applied to the wheels in order to provide precision control.
  • The available i-ACTIV AWD® System is able to send power to the wheels that need it. Each CX-9 configuration has the same towing capacity, but adding AWD will help if you need to tow during inclement weather or on gravel roads.
  • Dynamic Stability Control with Traction Control System and Trailer Stability Assist provides stability while cornering.
